Phenomena captured on film: During this investigation we found the building to be clean and very much in order. We always come into an investigation whether it is a house or a business with an open mind knowing that spirits are everywhere. We do things a little different than may be expected in that we bring to bare all tools and disciplines available to the study of the supernatural.

That being said we cannot rule out the facts concerning this case. Our scientific approach netted us a good portion of evidence. The evidence gathered was done via still photography, digital recording and video. We did run into psychic energy in the building. This energy can be labeled as residual. It as if the courtroom had had a lot of sad people in it over the years. A cleansing would help to liven up the work place.

During this investigation we found some scientific signs of a haunting. We photographed some orbs of interest. They fit our criteria of being energy orbs. To be an energy orb they must be very close to round in shape, dense in nature and show motion.

We also captured what is considered to be a shadow spirit. I split the team into two smaller teams and sent one to the old church and one to the jail. One of the church team members took a shot of the front of the courthouse as he was leaving. The building was empty except for Investigator Jason and he was in the bell tower setting up cameras. The picture taken was of the judge’s office area. Standing in the doorway to the Judges secretary’s office there is the distinct outline of a human. It is totally dark and shows no characteristics of a live being. If a live human had been in the doorway there would have been tale tale signs. For instance there are no skin tone variations, no glint or glitter as in rings watches glasses, teeth or eyes. This is from all tests run, a spirit shadow. We also captured very good electronic voice phenomena in the bell tower and courtroom. The sounds varied from walking to sighing to tapping to voices.

Summation: Due to the fact that investigation was a high profile county office, we used a medium size group of investigators. Two teams of four each seasoned investigators and two team was used on this investigation. The team psychics, Melisa and May, were inserted in to the buildings at 8 pm. They were allowed to do their walk through while the others set up equipment. Upon completion of their psychic evaluation they were extracted to be interviewed separately. While they were being interviewed the others went around the building taking pictures and various climatic readings. During the interview Melisa revealed that she felt the presence of an older woman in the church. She appeared to be confused and wondered why we were there. May was in the jail and said that she was not able to pick up on any spirit activity, probably due to the crowded conditions. Once they had finished their interviews they were allowed in the courthouse. That was around 9:30 pm. One went to the second floor and one stayed on the 1st floor. They both picked up a feeling that the courthouse was active with spirit activity and that it had a lot of residual energy. Before May went the court house she got a vision of a military man by the name of Ben.

Conclusion: Is the Courthouse in Arkansas City, Arkansas haunted? We have a grading system that helps us to answer such questions. We graded the evidence as follows; scientific evidence is photos, video, EMF readings, Temperature readings and EVP. On a scale of 0 – 50 we gave the scientific evidence gathered a 40. The evidence was there and was very strong. The shadow spirit helped to rate this category so high. Sensory evidence is that of the human five senses and on a scale of 0 – 25 we gave the sensory evidence a 15. Some of the investigators told me that they had had a feeling of being watched. One investigator said she smelled cigar smoke and another claimed to have been talked to. The extra sensory evidence is the feelings of the psychic and sensitive. On a scale of 0 – 25 we gave the extra sensory evidence a 15. The two psychics had very similar mental images as they went through the buildings. The grand total for this project is 75. The grading system of all evidence gathered tells us that there is some sort of paranormal activity happening in the dark recesses of the Desha County Courthouse. I believe it to be haunted but that the resident employees have nothing to fear from their courthouse ghosts.
