The Old State House Museum
Little Rock, Arkansas

The Old State House Museum is the oldest standing Capitol building west of the Mississippi River. Construction on the building started in 1833 and was completed in 1842. Although it was still under construction, government officials moved into the building when Arkansas became a state in 1836. The building served as our state capitol until 1911 when construction of the new capitol building was completed.

The Old State House Museum has served Arkansans in many capacities over the years. It has been used as a facility to house federal and state offices. It was once a medical college, and today it is a museum where all of Arkansas’ history can seen tastefully arranged in surroundings designed to teach all visitors.

There have been rumors of ghosts roaming the great halls of this beautiful building. Stories of apparitions showing themselves on the stairs and the sounds of a deadly knife fight have been reported in the small house chambers. Because of the stories, we were allowed to spend the night in the Old State House to gather evidence of a haunting or to dismiss the stories to an over-active imagination.

Unfortunately, the evidence did not present itself adequately to determine whether the building is haunted or not. However, the evidence we did get does allow us to say that paranormal activity abounds within the walls of the Old State House Museum.

Orb in motion.
An Orb in motion indicates that the orb has energy and can move without outside help. Most of the time an Orb in motion indicates spirit activity.

Orb shown above the saddle of Archibald Yell. Almost every investigator got a picture of an Orb in this location.

Very dense and well shaped Orb can be seen in the upper portion of the picture. Another sign of an energy Orb is the shape and coloration. This one could very well be an energy Orb.

Normally, we tend to disregard outside pictures, but this one shows a single Orb by the east wing. The Orb is very bright and shows motion. This one could also be an energy Orb.

Pic 7 JH.jpg (64945 bytes)
This Orb was found hanging about the small and large house chambers.

Nothing very special about this picture. Use it to compare to the next one.

What is that in the lower portion of the picture? Is it a camera strap or a fast moving Orb?
