Number of False Positive Photos: Numerous

Number of EVP recorded:  1

Phenomena captured on film: Very few orbs were captured during our visit to the Jail. Some of the orbs were interesting. The orb shots that were good were taken from video footage. They represent possible spirit energy. They were captured in the Jail. They were very quick moving. They passed our shape and density test. They fit the type that indicates high concentration of energy by being round and dense. We did attempt to gather some EVP data. One short EVP was recorded but could not be understood.

The dousing rods were used extensively in and outside the jail. Investigator Alan and Jason did make contact using the dousing rods.  First contact was with a young black male. Jason was able to find out that the man was hung near where he was standing. As the questioning continued Jason found out that the mans sister was there with him. It appears that Andrew Springer had been found outside the Courthouse and close to the spot that he was hung.

Summation:  There were eight investigators on this investigation. The team psychic, Melisa, was present at all locations. Of the eight investigators eight made a visit to the Jail at various times during the evening. We divided the eight investigators into 4 teams of two and sent them to different locations throughout the park. We attempted to cycle each team in and out of all 5 historic locations. Jason and I, Alan, were not assigned to any certain team. We acted as resource managers floating between all teams. Building assignments were made and each team was told they would be changing areas about every 45 minutes until we had all been to each building. We wanted all of the teams to have the chance to experience paranormal activity wherever it was found. Melisa the team psychic was allowed to enter each building first. She made contact in several areas as the night progressed. There were other spirit sensitives scattered throughout the four teams.

Investigator Terri said that she sensed what could have been a residual haunting in one of the cells. She said that she was made to feel sick as if she were the inmate and shown where the person lay and how they felt. The inmate did not die in the cell but was very sick.

Our grading system helps us determine if a building or house is haunted. Before we say whether or not a haunting exists all of the evidence is evaluated and assigned points. We use the following system; Scientific evidence consists of pictures, recordings both video and audio, EMF readings and temperature readings. (0 – 50 pts.) Sensory evidence consists of our five senses (0 – 25 pts.)  and extra sensory evidence consists of psychic or medium contact (0 – 25 pts.)  The Jail received 30 pts for scientific, 15 pts for sensory and 15 pts for extra sensory. Total 60 pts.

Conclusion: We feel that the Old Jail at Powhatan State park has paranormal activity in the building.
