The Smackover Jail was built in the early 1900’s, and served as the city jail until 1970. It became too run down to continue using for detention purposes, so the city started sending prisoners to the county lock up. The old Jail is now unoccupied and in need of repairs.

 Video

This Video clip was taken in the upstairs portion of the jail. The upstairs is not accessible but I was able to place the camera in the doorway via a concrete block and a long stretch. It was too cold for bugs and the white blur you see was not a bird or hand - at least it was not the hand of a "live" being.
